Australia has its fair share of festivals, and Brisbane Festival is one of its biggest events attracting about a million people each year. It is held annually in September, this year being from 5th September to 28th September and features some of the finest shows in music, dance, circus, opera and major public events. The Festival is held in multiple locations all over the city, with the major hubs being South Bank Cultural Forecourt, QUT Kelvin Grove, The Botanic Gardens and the Queensland Performing Arts Center.

If fire is your thing, this is the show for you! This other-worldly experience is located at the Brisbane City Botanical gardens and boasts large spheres of flame installments, flickering, dancing tongues of fire and a musical backdrop to leave you in awe. Wonder through the maze-like gardens and let this show touch your heart and delight your senses.
This magical show airing at the Queensland Performing Arts Center (QPAC) is by international touring sensation 'Brief' and will encourage you and your little ones to get up on stage, have a boogie or two, play with hula hoops and learn new tricks. It certainly is a high energy, super fun and engaging show for a variety of all ages; dress up is encouraged as well. Welcome to Festival Central! The Treasury Brisbane Arcadia is the social hub of the Brisbane Festival. The Brisbane Arcadia is home to the famous Spiegeltents and offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy free art, acrobatic and musical performances while sampling some of the best food and drink Australia has to offer. This is the perfect space to admire the nightly River of Light Show spectacle, which tells the aboriginal story of Maiwar, the dreaming serpent that wove Brisbane River into existence.
Kate Miller Heidke is one of the festival’s many extraordinary musical acts. Her feather like vocals and clear voice have already represented Australia in this year’s EuroVision Song contest and she’s sure to put on a hell of a great show at the festival. Ending the festival with a big bang, the fireworks are hauntingly beautiful as they draw colourful lines through the night sky. Join the people of Brisbane from 7pm on Saturday the 28th September and admire this pyrotechnical masterpiece, supported by aerial displays including jets and helicopters from the Australian Defense Force. We recommend you secure a spot close to the Brisbane River, in South Bank Parklands.
