A date night doesn't have to be just one night, it can be a full weekend! And whilst Brisbane may not be the city of love, the River City certainly can dial up the romance if you know where to look. Keep reading for our guide to a perfect weekend in South Bank which won't break the bank account.
Wander the banks of the Brisbane River
The Brisbane River is itself a very beautiful spot to go walking and our hotel is located just a moments walk from the South Bank promenade which winds along the river bank. Make your way to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and have a coffee at The Cliffs Cafe whilst you take in the splendid view of our fair city. Or head in the opposite direction along the promenade and around the corner into West End where on Saturday morning you will find yourself at the Davies Park Markets. At night, the lights of the city have never looked prettier than when they twinkle on the river.
Hit the beach
You don't have to leave the city to hit the beach. Streets Beach is an iconic Brisbane experience and Australia's only inner-city man made beach. Relax on the sand and soak up the sun or take a dip in the refreshing water. This can be a hot spot for families so the best times to visit are early morning or in the evenings before the beach shuts.
Have a picnic
When it comes to picnics, a soft grassy patch with water views is pretty perfect for a romantic date and South Bank has just that! The River Quay Green is a great lunchtime spot with neighbouring restaurants offering picnic hampers and blankets so you don't have to pack one. Popolo's Italian picnic packages start from $65 and include delicious antipasto, pizza's, and soft drinks. Aquitaine's gourmet picnic hampers start from $50 and include charcuterie, cheeses, and sparkling water. On a Sunday afternoon, The River Quay Green comes alive for Sunday Socials on the Green. Between 2pm - 5pm enjoy free entertainment from local musicians, lawn games, and cool vibes.
Romantic dinners for two
Whilst our own restaurant Spice Central Kitchen & Bar has a menu that's hard to ignore, South Bank has a plethora of restaurants to suit all budgets. The hardest decision will be what you feel like for dinner. Call our our guest services team prior to your arrival to ask them for their local knowledge and recommendations or speak to them when you check in at the hotel and they can assist in reserving a table for you.
