School holidays have officially begun! If you’re a parent who’s looking for ways to keep your kids entertained during these cold and rainy weeks, we’ve got you covered. Our hotel has PLENTY of fun indoor activities for your little ones – from spellbinding magic shows to guided art classes; plus we even have enough Lego to fill the Gabba! We also recommend checking out the tons of exciting indoor events and activities in Brisbane. Here are some of our favourites that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your family’s faces:

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN CULTURE

The Queensland Art Gallery is a world-class art museum that houses an impressive collection of modern art. The gallery has a variety of interactive exhibitions running during the school holidays such as Chiharu Shiota’s ‘A Feeling’, where children are given coloured pencils and invited to express their emotions on paper, after which their art is added to a collective display. Best of all, admission is free! So if you’re looking for a fun and educational activity for your family, be sure to check out the Queensland Art Gallery, open daily between 10am-5pm.

Skip the line! Ask our friendly staff to book your tickets for Chiharu Shiota’s exhibition.

SPARK YOUR KID’S CURIOSITY

If your kid loves to ask questions on a holiday like “Are we there yet?” or “What time is lunch?”, then you’ll probably be looking for ways to redirect their curiosity! Luckily, The Cube at QUT has a bunch of digital learning programs to get them thinking about science and how the world around us works. Offering a unique, engaging and immersive digital experience, The Cube lets your child explore, discover and learn about science while also having fun. Program themes include ‘Dino Zoo’, where you can walk among life-sized digital dinosaurs (don’t worry – they don’t bite!), and ‘The Living Reef’, where you’ll be transported into our miraculous underwater world. Admission is free. Check individual screening times before visiting.

GET ACTIVE

If you’re wanting to get your kids off the couch and away from their screens, an indoor adventure park might be just the thing. It’s also a great option if you have a particularly boisterous kid who needs to burn off some energy! Urban Xtreme has over 10 activities under one roof, from indoor trampolining to rock climbing, and they even have a kids’ play centre, making it perfect for children of all ages. Prices start at $15, and extended operating hours are in place during the school holidays.

ENJOY AN INDOOR WINTER WONDERLAND

Undersea Putt & Play is the perfect place for a unique and memorable family experience. This underwater-themed mini golf course will make you feel like you’re in a Disney movie (sans the singing crabs!). And from 24th June – 10th July, the 18-hole course will be transformed nightly into Snowland, a magical winter wonderland complete with snow machines, Christmas tunes and festive decorations. Enjoy the wintery vibes without feeling the chill at Undersea Putt & Play. Book online before visiting.

UNLEASH THEIR CREATIVITY

Let your kid’s imagination and creativity run free at Plaster Fun House, Brisbane’s only entertainment venue where you can paint your own plaster piece and take it home immediately. Simply choose a plaster piece from the shelves and decorate it with paint, glitter and all that good stuff until you’re satisfied with your masterpiece. It’s a great activity for the family – especially parents who are looking for a creative outlet for their kids that won’t result in hours of cleaning up! Sessions run for 2 hours, with prices averaging between $10 and $15.

REVEL IN SOME NOSTALGIA

This one’s for all of those big kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s. 1UP Arcade is a retro arcade that contains 200+ classic games and nostalgic throwbacks from your childhood – including Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong, to name a few. Introduce your kids to the games you loved to play and get a chance to finally beat that high score of yours.

Opening hours are Wed-Sun, 12pm-8pm.
