Sip on Vino and Cocktails in Brisbane’s Laneways
If you have ever been walking around Brisbane, you know, Brisbane’s laneways are up there with the best! Many of these laneways house small bars with a lot of character. One of our favourites is Beatrix, a Kill-Bill inspired bar where Texas meets Japan with a secret laneway entrance and an impressive cocktail list & food menu. Another is La Lune, a small boutique wine bar in Fish Lane, South Brisbane with a great outlook over some fantastic street art pieces. Kiki, a coffee & banh mi kiosk by day & cocktail bar by night, housed underneath a rail bridge amidst an urban jungle, is also in Fish Lane. If laneway bars are your thing, definitely also have a look also for John Mills Himself Café Bar, Next Episode, Bar Brutus and Alba Bar & Deli.
Strike at Wintergarden in the Brisbane CBD has it all! Choose from a classic game of ten-pin bowling, an action packed session of laser tag or heart-warming karaoke renditions of your favourite songs for your next date night. Strike also features a fully equipped cocktail bar and gourmet kitchen, so why not pair your activity with a lovely dinner for two afterwards?
Watching a movie may not be one of the most exciting date night ideas, but where you watch a movie makes all the difference! Why not drive out to the Yatala drive in cinema, grab some popcorn and watch a film on the big screen from the comfort of your car? Another epic old-style location for movies the Red Hill Cinemas. Rebuilt from the remains of an old skate arena, it feel like you are watching a movie in an old barn – but on comfortable seats. Have you ever wanted to enjoy dinner while watching a movie? Blue Room Cinebar has you covered! With a fully licensed, in-cinema delivery service you can enjoy everything from cocktails to pizza.
Pack a picnic
Now that it is starting to become a little cooler as we head into autumn here in Brisbane, it is the perfect opportunity to pack a lunch (or dinner) and lay down a rug somewhere grassy. Enjoy prime South Bank picnic spots like the Grassy Knoll, Musgrave Park or anywhere near the South Bank Parklands. You can opt to organise it all yourself or enlist the help of a professional like The Picnic Co. or Social Picnic Co, who, at your desired location, will set up the prettiest picnic table and accessories you have ever seen.
Picture this: You are at the site of a historic wharf, there are re-purposed shipping containers everywhere, each of which houses a different cuisine, restaurant or food stall, there are glittering lights everywhere and a band is playing in the background. Welcome to Eat Street Northshore, the perfect location for your next date night. If all of the above was not enough reason to visit, there are also plenty of car parks available & the entry is only $5 per person. Happy indulging!
Those might seem like two things that do not go together – but the folks at Felons Brewing have tried, tested and can confirm that, yes, beer and yoga make a great combination. Every Wednesday from 5pm-5.45pm on the Felons lawn, you can take part in their weekly beer yoga session. A great way to end a day at work and a great way to start a date night! All classes are free and are Vinyasa Slow Flow classes, making them accessible to all yoga abilities. Simply make sure to arrive a little before 5pm, so you can grab a beer and find a spot on the lawn. BYO yoga mat.
Another fantastic way to break a sweat on a date in Brisbane is to go climbing! Choose from three locations (Milton, Newstead or West End) and whether you would like to go climbing with ropes (West End location) or bouldering, a style of climbing without ropes or a harness with walls only up to 3m high (Milton, Newstead or West End locations). From $25 per person, this is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and have some fun on date night!
Mount-Coot-tha, Brisbane’s most iconic lookout spot, located just 7.5kms from Brisbane’s CBD, boasts a great walking track to its summit, from which you can admire our river city in all its glory. The Mount Coot-tha summit circuit track requires a moderate fitness level, making it a very accessible track, which leaves you with enough breath to enjoy your date night. Start at the end of the second car park at JC Slaughter Falls up to the lookout and return on the Mahogany trail. Make sure to take some time to admire the trees, white cockatoos and picturesque creek as well.
